Co-Owner South End Physiotherapy
Jill received her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 1981 after enjoying five years as a varsity basketball player. Her 1980 team has been inducted in the Dalhousie Sports Hall of Fame as the most successful Basketball team in Dalhousie's history.
After graduation, Jill worked for five years as an orthopaedic outpatient Physiotherapist at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. It was working here that sparked her interest in orthopaedics and sports medicine. She advanced her level of knowledge by attending many post-graduate courses including acupuncture, manual therapy techniques, treatment of sports injuries and specific musculo-skeletal injuries. In addition, Jill attended Dalhousie University completing all the course work for a MSc. in Health Education. During this time, Jill was also a Sessional Lecturer for the School of Physiotherapy teaching a Functional Anatomy course for five years. She continues to stay up to date with regular attendance at professional development courses.
After leaving the V.G., Jill worked at several private practices in Halifax to gain experience before opening South End Physiotherapy Clinic. Over the last 22 years, South End Physiotherapy has grown and expanded to meet the varying needs of orthopaedic and sports medicine patients.
Jill has presented at various Orthopaedic Symposiums and has appeared on Global TV with Duane Lowe, ATV's Live at Five, CBC Radio's Information Morning and Maritime Noon as well as regular appearances on Breakfast Television for two years. In addition she has been interviewed and has written several articles on Sports Injuries for Runners Magazine, The Globe and Mail Newspaper and the Chronicle Herald Newspaper. Jill also volunteers at local sporting events and was involved with the World Junior Hockey Championships. She was also the Medical Co-Chair of the BMO LPGA Golf Tournament held at Glen Arbour Golf Course.
Jill has been active in the community with volunteering hours of coaching both basketball and soccer, particularly enjoying her time with the Junior High Girls Basketball Team at the Halifax Grammar School.
Jill lives in Bedford with her husband and has three children, two of whom are attending university. Jill is very committed to remaining physically fit and enjoys playing golf at Ashburn.
